2.3.1. Combination of devices

The general view of a combination of devices is presented on an illustration.

Combination of devices

Instrumentations

Speedometer

The speedometer is located in the central part of a combination of devices and shows the speed of the movement of the car in km/h. At the included NIGHT PANEL mode the scale of a speedometer is lit to 140 km/h. Illumination of other part of a scale joins at a speed over 135 km/h.

Tachometer

The tachometer is to the left of a speedometer and shows the frequency of rotation of a bent shaft of the engine in thousands of revolutions per minute.

The tachometer is intended for control over engine turns. In addition the control unit of the engine limits supply of fuel at achievement of 6200 rpm (petrol engines) or 4600 rpm (diesel engines).

Counters of a run and button of zeroing

The field of the odometer and measuring instrument of a run is placed under a tachometer.

The odometer (at the left) registers the general run (km) of the vehicle from the moment of input it in operation. The measuring instrument of a run shows a run (km and hundreds of meters) of the car from the moment of zeroing of the counter. For zeroing of the measuring instrument the corresponding button (8 on an illustration above) located to the right of the measuring instrument is used. Depending on the provision of a key in the ignition lock, this button operates differently. At the switched-off ignition by the first pressing the button 20 seconds the display turns on, and by repeated pressing the measuring instrument is nullified. At the included ignition zeroing happens by the first pressing the button.

Index of a reserve of fuel

The index of a reserve of fuel is located in the right lower part of a combination of devices and serves for visual monitoring of a reserve of the fuel remaining in a tank.

The error of indications of the index of a reserve of fuel is minimum when the car holds strictly horizontal position, and increases at movement of the car along twisting or hilly roads. Functioning of the index does not depend on position of the ignition key.

Located in the lower part of the KL dial with the image of the gas station informs the driver that in a tank there were about 10 l of fuel. At the same time follows at the first opportunity to make refueling of the car. To learn distance which for which will be enough the remained fuel use the on-board computer.

Index of temperature of the engine

The index of temperature of the engine is located to the right of the index of a reserve of fuel and serves for visual representation of temperature of cooling liquid of the engine.

In the normal state of the shooter of the index has to be in the center of a scale. If the arrow approaches a red zone of a scale, try to unload the engine, moving on the highest possible transfer and with the smallest possible turns. When moving an arrow to a red zone lights up warning To/L and the sound signal is distributed. If the arrow does not fall, despite the measures described above, it is necessary to stop the movement, to switch off To/in (if it was included) and to wait for cooling of the engine. Check a safety lock of the fan of a radiator and level of cooling liquid. If necessary eliminate leaks and add OZh, or replace a safety lock.

If the OZh level is lower than the mark "MIN", on the multipurpose display the message of "FILL COOLANT LIQUID" appears.

Turbocompressor manometer

The manometer is located in the top right corner of a combination of devices and specifies the amount of air demanded for fuel combustion that corresponds to load of the engine.

At low loads of the shooter moves in a white zone, and at increase in loading – it is displaced in a yellow zone. At very high loads of the shooter can move to the beginning of a red zone without existence of any malfunctions of the engine.

If the arrow continues to come repeatedly into a red zone and at the same time the engine loses the power (since the protective system limits turbo-supercharging pressure), address on HUNDRED companies Saab.

If the speed of the car exceeds 230 km/h, then increase in speed is also limited due to pressure decrease of a turbo-supercharging. The arrow of the manometer moves to the middle of the yellow field that demonstrates deceleration of power of the engine and consequently, and about car speed.

Control lamps and indicators

The whole complex of control lamps and indicators by means of which the driver obtains important information on serviceability/violation of functioning of the main units and systems of the car is built in assembly of a combination of devices of the car.

* To/L the low pressure of motive oil, lights up together with precautionary To/L in case of pressure of the motive oil insufficient for normal operation of the engine. If given To/L lights up during the movement of the car, at the first opportunity stop and kill the engine. Check the level of motive oil and if necessary modify it.

* To/L system of charging, lights up together with precautionary To/L at malfunction in system of a charge. If given To/L lights up during the movement of the car, at the first opportunity stop and kill the engine. Check a driving belt. If the belt is tense correctly, malfunction consists in an electrical wiring of system of a charge.

* To/L the low level of brake fluid, lights up together with precautionary To/L. At inclusion given To/L together with To/L ABS malfunction can take place in the ABS system. At inclusion given To/L it is necessary to check the level of brake fluid in the tank, and also hydraulic lines of the brake system for existence of leaks.

The movement on the car with the faulty brake system is inadmissible.

To/L the cocked parking brake. In attempt to begin the movement with burning given To/L lights up precautionary To/L and the sound signal is distributed.

* To/L ABS serves for control of serviceability of functioning of ABS. Joins with malfunction in the ABS system. Along with this lamp can light up precautionary To/L, To/L the low level of brake fluid and To/L the cocked parking brake – it indicates malfunction in system distribution of brake effort. At inclusion To/L ABS the working brake system continues to work, but without ABS. For safety it is necessary to stop and check the level of brake fluid. If level normal, strongly squeeze out a brake pedal 2-3 times and again check the level of brake fluid. If level remained normal, it is possible to continue the movement with extra care, and then as soon as possible to drive away the car on HUNDRED for performing diagnostics and performance of necessary recovery repair.

AIR
BAG * — To/L SRS, burns together with precautionary To/L with malfunction in the SRS system. The SRS system in that case should be checked immediately. To/L SRS lights up on 3 with at inclusion of ignition and has to die away after start of the engine.

INFO
DISPL * — To/L the multipurpose display, lights up at receipt of the message on the display. At the same time the sound signal is distributed.

* Precautionary To/L, is followed by inclusion of a buzzer and lights up at emergence of malfunction in one of the systems connected with safety of the car:
  • SRS is faulty;
  • Low pressure of motive oil;
  • The emergency brake is cocked at a speed of car more than 5 km/h;
  • Low level of brake fluid;
  • ABS is faulty;
  • Adjustment of distribution of brake effort between a forward and back axis is broken;
  • High temperature of OZh;
  • The system of a charge is faulty.

Besides, To/L lights up through 10 from later inclusion of ignition if the engine was not started.

 

* To/L malfunction of the engine, lights up with malfunction in fuel system or in system of ignition. Even if at the included lamp the car can move, it all the same should be checked for HUNDRED as soon as possible.

* Given To/L points that in the fuel tank there were less than 10 l and reminds of what follows as soon as possible will refuel. On diesel models at the rest of 3 l of fuel on the multipurpose display the message "STOP FOR FUEL" is displayed (fill fuel).

CRUISE — To/L the included tempostat.

Given To/L serves for confirmation of inclusion of driving beam of headlights.

To/L xenon headlights (at the corresponding complete set), lights up at emergence of malfunction in xenon headlights, or in system of automatic adjustment of range of their light. At the same time lamps move to the lowered (antiblinding) situation and, therefore, visibility range decreases.

To/L, confirming inclusion of back foggy lamps.

To/L inclusion of external lighting.

To/L, pointing to an open door or a trunk lid.

WINTER — Given To/L points to work of AT on the WINTER program (see the Section Use of the Automatic Transmission (AT)).

SPORT — Given To/L points to work of AT on the SPORT program (see the Section Use of the Automatic Transmission (AT)).

* To/L existence of malfunction of AT. To make sure of malfunction of AT switch off the engine and again include ignition. At burning To/L a possibility of the movement of the car remains, but AT works in emergency operation.

* To/L switching off of the TCS/ESP systems, lights up at compulsory switching off of these systems, and also at emergence of malfunction in system.

To/L activity of the TCS/ESP systems, lights up at activation of these systems, i.e. at the lowered friction between wheels and the road.

To/L preheat of the diesel engine. Lights up at the included ignition if temperature of OZh is lower the 5th hail. It is necessary to start the engine only after given To/L goes out.

* Data To/L at inclusion of ignition have to light up on 3 with, in confirmation of their serviceability; To/L a charge, warning To/L and To/L the low pressure of oil burn until the engine is started.
