6.4. Power supply system of the diesel V6 engine
During the operation of the diesel engine in its cylinders clean air which contracts to high pressure is soaked up. At the same time air temperature rises higher than temperature of ignition of diesel fuel. Fuel is injected into the cylinder with some advancing and self-ignites. Thus, spark plugs for ignition of fuel in the diesel engine are not used.
On the cold engine temperature of compressed air can not reach value, necessary for ignition. In this case additional preliminary warming up is necessary. For this purpose in each cylinder the glow plug heating the combustion chamber is established. Duration of heating depends on surrounding temperature and is regulated by the control unit of the engine and the relay of preliminary warming up.
The scheme of power supply systems and release of OG is submitted on an illustration.

Fuel compresses up to the pressure, necessary for injection, in the fuel pump of high pressure (FPHP) where it moves the fuel pump from the fuel tank via the fuel filter. Pressure of injection is regulated by the control unit of the engine.
The fuel distributive highway is applied to a fuel supply from TNVD to nozzles of separate cylinders.
Diesel engines are operated the electronic system similar to a control system of petrol engines. Differences are listed below.
In a control system of diesel engines the cable of management of a butterfly valve is not used, instead of it the sensor of position of the accelerator pedal located on an accelerator pedal support is installed. Besides, brake pedal D/V (D/V of stoplights) which provides decrease in supply of fuel at single turns is used if the sensor of position of the accelerator pedal failed. The sensor of position of the camshaft (CMP) together with the CKP sensor transfers to the control unit information on VMT of the piston of the first cylinder. It serves for synchronization of the moment of ignition and the sequence of ignition.
