4.4.3. Removal and installation of camshafts and valves, assessment of valvate gaps

Below the method of removal of valves from the removed head of cylinders is described. The removed components it is necessary to have so that then them it was possible will establish on former places. The repair sizes of components of a head of cylinders are specified in Specifications. Procedures of repair are not considered in view of their typicalness.

Damage of the cylindrical surfaces interfaced to pushers of valves is not allowed.


  1. Remove a head of cylinders (see the Section Removal and installation of a head of cylinders and a natyazhitel of a driving chain).
  2. Uncover bearings of camshafts and take shaft from a head of cylinders.

In the last turn it is necessary to uncover the bearings next to the loaded pushers of valves.

  1. Take pushers from a head of cylinders and establish protective caps on their place not to damage the cylindrical surfaces of a head of cylinders interfaced to pushers.
  2. Squeeze a valvate spring by means of special adaptation and remove crackers from the valve.
  3. Remove plates springs, a spring and an oil scraper cap.
  4. Take the valve from a head of cylinders.
  5. Measure the sizes of camshafts and components of the valvate mechanism. If necessary replace defective parts.
  6. Replace the damaged oil scraper caps.

Installation is made in the return sequence. Before installation of pushers estimate valvate gaps – in this case this distance from a valve core end face to a camshaft bearing saddle.


  1. For assessment of a valvate gap lay special adaptation on saddles of two bearings of the camshaft. Make sure that the probe on the maximum length (20.5 mm) reaches a valve core, and on the minimum length (19.5 mm) does not reach it, i.e. the end face of a core of the valve has to act at a size lying between probe lengths (20.2 mm). Adjustment of a valvate gap is made by means of machining of a core of the valve (if the result of measurement is lower than minimum) or its saddle (if the result of measurement is higher than maximum).
  1. Tighten covers of bearings, since near what cams are turned down.

Covers of bearings are numbered from 1 to 5 on the inlet party and with 6 to 10 on final. Black bolts have the channel for lubricant, and they should be established from spark plugs.
